This trek from the Annapurna foothills to the viewpoint on Poon Hill offers some of the best views in the region. The trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past ice-cold waterfalls where you can stop to cool your face. Around every corner is a tantalizing glimpse of the high mountains, whole horizons of which will be revealed to you as you reach the high points of your trek. This is a comparatively easy trek through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs, Magars dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque Peak of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominating the skyline.
At the climax of this trek, you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain escapes on Earth. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits of the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks, which slowly begin to appear, like magic, before our eyes. This a rewarding trek that can be enjoyed by every lover of nature and beautiful landscapes.
If you want to get the most mountain views in the least amount of time, this trek up from Naya Pul to Ghorapani and then over to Ghandruk should satiate your desire for Himalayan vistas. From the sunrise above Ghorepani to the in-your-face view of Machhapuchhare and Annapurna South from Chomrong, this trek does not disappoint.
Please note that this trek is not recommended in the summer because of monsoon rains.
You will be met at the airport by our Him Ganga Treks representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. Rest at the hotel and briefing about the trip. There should be time to explore the city’s many charms on your own too. Overnight (O/N) in Kathmandu (breakfast included).
Free time to discover the capital and its surroundings. The guide stays with the group (but can not divide if everyone goes on his side …). We recommend the Bodnath stupa early in the morning (to enjoy the pilgrims’ ambience), as well as visits to the ancient royal cities of Bhaktapur (a true living museum of the valley) and Patan . Capitals of small kingdoms in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, both cities are renowned for their beautiful Newar-style architecture with beautifully carved brick and wooden temples and their multi-storey pagoda roofs.
Free morning in Kathmandu . Like the day before, the guide stays with the group to help you, if you want to make visits in the valley. Depending on the schedule of the flight back , we still take a little time to hang out in the afternoon or we leave directly for the airport to take our flight home.
