I have met Dorchi during my first trekking and climbing experience in Nepal in 2012. At that time we used a French travel agency who employed Dorchi as our lead guide, who took us, amongst others, up to Island Peak. He also organized the expedition perfectly (cooks, porters, logistics,…). So when I came back in 2014, I contacted Dorchi directly and he set up the entire trip for a friend and myself. We visited absolutely fantastic places off the beaten tracks, got immersed in the local culture and local people (Nepalese and Tibetan) and just had such a memorable time. On top, we were able to pay a decent income to him and the porters (Shyam Tamang was just so helpful) and still paid less than we paid to the agency 2 years before.
